Our body - gateway to the here and now
Our mind, our biomechanical supercomputer, often tends to become independent and produce gloomy thought spirals.
Before we know it, our thoughts have landed in the past or the future.
We lose touch with the present moment and feel "pulled down".
However, gloomy and heavy thoughts can also be a wake-up call – an invitation to turn our attention back to our inner lives.

Fortunately, we always have the opportunity to regain control over our own well-being. A good "tool" for this is our body. It is always in the here and now, always present. When we turn our attention to it, we return to the moment.
Here's a short mindfulness journey back to our bodies:
How does my body feel right now?
Do I feel the weight of my body? Do I feel the Earth's gravity? Do I feel my feet touching the ground?
Am I aware of my breath? The flowing in and out? The gentle, rhythmic movement?
Perhaps a sigh escapes... tension dissipates.
I can go further inward, take a step back from the daily grind.
Perhaps a feeling arises – sadness, anger, or spontaneous laughter.
Everything is welcome. Feelings are allowed to come, to be felt – and then to go. What's important is that we give ourselves the space in which these feelings and bodily sensations are simply allowed to exist.
For a moment, I let go of all expectations – all my plans, to-dos, everything I should have done, and everything I still have to do.
I take a step back from the treadmill and feel my thoughts quiet down, recede into the background. I can leave the mental carousel and sit beside it, letting the thoughts drift by for a moment and finding my way back to my being.
into the here and now.

With that in mind, I wish you, I wish them, a mindful and relaxing evening.
Heartfelt,
Jan Rieder
